What location sharing does
TOM Driver collects location during an active shift with sharing enabled to help the courier operator coordinate assignments and understand work progress. Location can be collected while another app is open or the screen is closed. It may include coordinates, time, accuracy, speed, heading and battery information. Authorised operations personnel can use it for dispatch and service coordination.
Stopping sharing and reporting problems
End your shift or disable sharing when work ends. You can also change location permission in Android settings. Earlier information remains subject to the retention policy. Check your shift and sharing status. If it appears wrong, turn off sharing, inform operations and record the incident time and app version. Contact jeet@xtramilecouriers.co.uk if you need help or wish to raise a privacy concern. A status shown on screen is not proof that every device or failure condition has been tested.
Workplace monitoring and your choices
The operator is responsible for explaining the lawful grounds, necessity and limits of worker monitoring. Phone permission or receipt of this notice does not itself establish those grounds. Concerns or inability to use sharing should be discussed with the operator, which must consider the circumstances and explain any justified work consequence. Location must not be used for undisclosed general surveillance; a different purpose requires its own lawful assessment and appropriate notice.
Retention and access
The service configuration sets a 90-day target for raw location. This does not establish expiry from every backup, export or other copy. Access and any job-level information disclosed to customers depend on the operator’s authorised arrangements. Contact TOM to obtain the arrangements for your account, request a correction or deletion, or raise a complaint.
Prominent location disclosure
TOM Driver collects location data to support dispatch coordination and show progress during an active shift with sharing enabled, even when the app is closed or not in use.
